‘No Threat’ At Maryland’s Harford Community College After Active Shooter’ Scare

Authorities rushed to Harford Community College in Bel Air, Maryland, after a parent at a campus baseball field reported seeing a man with a gun.

A spokesman for theHarford County Sheriffs Officesaid after 3:30 p.m. that the campus was safe and there was no evidence of an active shooter that was reported an hour earlier.

After two hours of searching, authorities said they hadnt found a threat and were preparing to reopen the campus. Theyd been looking for what the parent described as a man in dark clothes carrying a gun, but didnt find a suspect, a firearm, or evidence of shots being fired.

The Sheriffs Office received a report of a shooter at the college Saturday afternoon, said Cristie Kahler, a spokesperson for the office,according to the Baltimore Sun. We are going to continue to run this into the ground, talking to witnesses, Kahler added.

The college initially sent out text messages and a Facebook post via its emergency alert system, telling people on campus to shelter in place:

The school reported that the incident was located at Harford Sports Complex on campus, where sporting events were ongoing at the time.

No injuries were reported.
